About LAMB

The LAMB (Los Angeles Mommy and Baby) Project is sponsored by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. It is both a population-based surveillance tool and a community outreach project. The LAMB survey asks mothers who recently delivered a baby about events that happened before, during, and after their pregnancy.

In 2014, the LAMB Follow-Up re-interviewed mothers who responded to the LAMB survey in 2012 when the index child turns two. Click here for more information about the LAMB Follow-Up Project.

Goal

To improve maternal health during pregnancy and to prevent babies from being born too early or too small

Objectives

  • To better understand the causes of poor birth outcomes in Los Angeles County.
  • To identify areas where help and resources are needed the most.
  • To improve the health and human services of future mothers and babies in Los Angeles County.
