Notice of Death Certificate Availability
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Vital Records office maintains death records for events occurring in Los Angeles
County (except for Pasadena and Long Beach) during
the current year or previous year. For all other
records, contact the Los Angeles County
Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk at 800-201-8999, or (562) 462-2137, or (562) 462-2214. You can visit their website at www.lavote.gov/home/recorder.
Death Certificates are available 10 days after the original certificate has been registered. Requests can be made in-person, by mail,
or on-line.
The Department of Public Health Vital Records is not able to process online orders, however, for your convenience, we have partnered with VitalChek Network to provide this service beginning January 11, 2021. VitalChek accepts debit and the following credit cards: MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover. A $10.50 special handling fee will be charged on all debit and credit card orders in addition to the certified copy fee.
