This map shows where rabid bats were identified in LA County in 2026. Red circles indicate bats that tested positive for rabies after being reported by the public to animal control. Rabies may still be present in areas without reported cases.

Rabid bats detected in 2026:

1. La Ca�ada Flintridge.  January.  Bat found alive on ground in a backyard near a dog.

2. Burbank.  February.  Bat found alive on a public sidewalk outside of a combined commercial and residential building.

3. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found alive on the backyard patio of a home.  A dog was possibly exposed.

4. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found dead on the driveway of a home.

5. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found alive on the ground in the backyard of a home.

6. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found dead in the backyard of a home.

7. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found alive floating in a swimming pool at a house.

8. Monrovia.  March.  Bat found alive on a public sidewalk outside of businesses.

9. Santa Clarita.  March.  Bat found dead by a wall in the backyard - 2 dogs may have been exposed.

18. Los Angeles 90049.  April.  Bat found alive in the yard of a home and picked up in the mouth of a dog that was not up to date with a rabies vaccine.

21. Tarzana.  June.  Bat found alive on the concrete outside of a home. 

22. Santa Clarita.  June.  Bat found alive outside of a home, hanging on a wall near the front door.

23. Reseda.  June.  Bat found dead on the driveway outside of a home. 

24. Glendora.  June.  Bat found alive in the garage of a home.  An unvaccinated community cat was exposed.

25. Santa Clarita.  July.  Bat found in the backyard of a home and picked up in the mouth of a dog.
