Alert: National shortage of erythromycin (0.5%) opthalmic ointment (September 2009)
There is a national shortage of erythromycin (0.5%) ophthalmic ointment, currently the only recommended prophylaxis for gonococcal ophthalmia neonatorum. To address this shortage, the CDC has created a web page with updated guidance and recommendations.
