Prior to joining the Area Health Office, Mrs. Kouchak-Eftekhar has gained invaluable experience as a Public Health Nurse. She has served as both a district PHN and a Hospital-based STD Liaison Public Health Nurse.

She has 10 years of experience as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner in Women’s Health. For the past three years, she has chosen to expand her knowledge and clinical experience to include Nursing Management in the areas of Pediatrics and Women’s Health. Her clinical and managerial experience includes in-patient and out-patient settings for both pediatrics and adults.

Her diverse experience includes working in the private sector, Personal Health and Public Health Programs. She has appeared in nation-wide televised talk shows to discuss important Public Health issues such as the Measles epidemic in Los Angeles County and the importance of obtaining early prenatal care. She is fluent in Spanish and has assisted in the translation of HIV questionnaires for the Spanish speaking population of Los Angeles County.

Mrs. Kouchak-Eftekhar obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) from Mount St. Mary’s College in 1988, a Women’s HealthCare Nurse Practitioner Program Certificate in 1992 from Harbor-UCLA and she obtained her OB/GYN National Certification (NCC) in 1993. She is currently pursuing her graduate degree in Nursing Science and Education.
