Food Security Training: Our first event for this year took place in Downtown Los Angeles on the topic of food security. Our honored speaker, Laurel Eu, Public Affairs Specialist from the US Food and Drug Administration, focused on foodborne risks for consumers and health professionals.

Ms. Eu's presenation included information on how the environment, food distribution and global trade can increase the risk of foodborne illnesses.

Foodborne illnesses can impact large numbers of people and communities. Some recent examples include: Avian Flu, Mad Cow Disease and Norwalk Viruses (as found on cruise ships).
