(Leaders Encouraging Activity and Nutrition)

California Project LEAN
works with state and local physical activity and nutrition
leaders to conduct programs in communities throughout
California. Los Angeles Region Project LEAN is one of the ten
(10) regional offices in
California housed within the Los Angeles County Health Department, Public
Health Nutrition Program. |
MISSION
To
increase healthy eating and physical activity to reduce the prevalence of
chronic disease such as heart disease, cancer, stroke, osteoporosis and
diabetes.
VISION
Californians
are physically active, eating healthy foods, and living in communities
that support healthy lifestyles.
GOALS
1. To
create healthier communities through policy/environmental changes that
support healthy eating and physical activity.
2. To
educate Californians to choose healthier foods and be more physically
active.
3. To
conduct research-based, consumer-driven nutrition and physical activity
campaigns.
4. To
serve as leaders coordinating State and local efforts promoting nutrition
and physical activity.
