Overview
Children’s Health Initiatives (CHI) is a policy and planning unit within Maternal
Child and Adolescent Health Programs. CHI coordinates efforts with other DHS
departments and with community members to address health needs among children and
their families in Los Angeles County. Some of the unit’s major projects include:
coordinating strategic planning for MCAH; improving asthma management and systems of
care; organizing efforts to address child and adolescent obesity; promoting screening
for developmental disability and delay; and collaborating with outside groups to expand
health care coverage to all children in Los Angeles County.
Mission
The Children’s Health Initiatives unit strives to achieve optimal health and well
being for all children and their families in Los Angeles County through policy,
planning, and collaborative projects.
