About Us

1. Focus on what you appreciate in your partner

I have been so busy, with work, holidays approaching, and our weekend trip out of town, that all I have been thinking is what needs to be done and rushing around. Then among me running around, I saw John teaching our five-year-old girl how to weatherproof her boots, in preparation for our trip. I never even thought of weatherproofing her boots to keep her feet dry and warm. I saw him, he had patience, not even making a big deal out of it, and yet praising her for doing such a great job. I suddenly realized how fortunate I was to have a man like him in my life that I immediately went over and put my arms around him to say how much I appreciate him”.

Remember to recognize what you truly love in your relationship rather than taking it for granted. You can do this by taking one day each week to begin, say every Sunday, by reminding yourself on what is so great about the person you are with. Your partner has chosen you to share their life with, above all other people. By practicing this type of gratitude in your relationship, focusing on what you appreciate about he other person, will make them feel appreciated and you will receive appreciation in return. (M.J. Ryan, Attitudes of Gratitude in Love (2002).
