About Specialized Food Services
The Specialized Food Services Program is a county-wide unit responsible for ensuring that specialized retail food facilities are in compliance with Federal, State, and local health and safety laws. When health and safety codes are followed it can help prevent the spread of food-related illness and help keep the community and employees healthy and safe.
We conduct inspections of the following and see more information below.
- Caterers
- Food vehicles designed to service the motion picture industry and their associated commissaries
- Certified Farmers' Markets
- Community events associated with Farmers' Markets
- Food vending machines
- Employee cafeterias
- Cottage food operations
- Shared kitchens
- Food demonstrators
- Large venues
- Micro markets
- Licensed Health Facilities
- Collection of soft serve product samples

Report a Problem
If you encounter a problem at a specialized retail food services-related facility, or to report any public health issues, call the Environmental Health Division of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Customer Call Center at (888) 700-9995. Telephone agents are available on Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, or File a Complaint Online.
Public Health will not ask you about your immigration status and you can file a report without giving your name.
