Epidemiologic Profiles by Service Planning Area (SPA)
The Health District Epidemiologic
Profiles provide HIV and STD surveillance data for each
of the 26 Health Districts (subdivisions of the eight
Service Planning Areas) in Los Angeles County. These
profiles include data on recent trends in HIV and STD
diagnoses; describe the relative burden of HIV and
STD-related morbidity and mortality; describe the number
of persons living with diagnosed HIV (PLWDH); and review
recent trends in the rates of new HIV, syphilis,
gonorrhea, and chlamydia diagnoses by gender,
race/ethnicity, and age. These profiles also highlight
the annual number of syphilis, congenital syphilis (and
related stillbirths), gonorrhea, and chlamydia cases for
the most recent year for which complete surveillance
data are available. Finally, trends in HIV/STD
coinfection and the HIV care continuum for PLWDH are
also described.
