Continuing Medical Education

The mission of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LAC DPH) Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program is to promote high quality evidence-based health care for the residents of Los Angeles County.  We address issues that are important to both clinical and population health such as communicable and chronic diseases and public health practice.

We welcome suggestions for future content.

Pain Management and the Management of Opioid and/or Other Substance Use Disorders

  •  DPH has created a list of CME opportunities from other organizations to help physicians comply with the Medical Board of California’s CME pain management requirements and the new training requirements for DEA-registered practitioners.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is accredited by the California Medical Association (CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health designates enduring activities with AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.

Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Other learners may receive a Certificate of attendance. According to the California Board of Registered Nursing, Continuing Medical Education is acceptable for meeting RN continuing education requirements, as long as the course is Category 1, and has been taken within the appropriate time frames.
