  Substance Use Services

Connecting to Opportunities for Recovery and Engagement (CORE) Center offers a welcoming environment where visitors can ask questions about Substance Use Disorders (also known as addictions) and get connected to prevention and treatment services, including risk reduction, prevention, and treatment.

Substance Abuse Counselors are available on-site to provide screening, referrals for prevention and treatment resources, and informative presentations.

CORE Center Staff provide peer-to-peer support for families of loved ones using alcohol and drugs.

Substance Abuse Counselors (SACs) can provide screenings and referrals to treatment, including no-cost treatment services for Medi-Cal and My Health LA clients as well as referrals to other resources in the community.

  South Bay Region (SPA 8)
The Curtis Tucker Center for Community Wellness is hosted by the Department of Public Health. Service Planning Area 8 (SPA 8) serves the communities of the South Bay. SPA 8 communities includes Athens, Avalon, Carson, Catalina Island, El Segundo, Gardena, Harbor City, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Long Beach*, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Dominguez, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, San Pedro, Torrance, Wilmington, and others. Please note the City of Long Beach has its own Health Department. Visit our SPA 8 website for more information on additional services we offer through our health center.
