Community AdvocacyMethamphetamine use is a serious public health problem. In the summer of 2005, The
Act Now Against Meth Coalition was formed as a community response to the growing methamphetamine abuse epidemic
in Los Angeles County and its strong link to new HIV infections.
The mission of the coalition is to mobilize the
community and create greater awareness of the
destructive nature of methamphetamine abuse. Members of
the coalition represent local community based
organizations, recovery and treatment homes,
neighborhood councils, youth agencies, churches and
businesses.
