Acute Communicable Disease Control
Preventing and Controlling Antibiotic Resistance
Antibiotic overuse and misuse has consequently made antibiotics become less effective,
and in some cases ineffective, against bacterial infections (referred to as
“antibiotic resistance”). In an effort to address the public health problem of
antibiotic resistance, the Acute Communicable Disease Control Program (ACDC) conducts
education and surveillance activities and provides the latest news and resources for
consumers and clinicians to promote appropriate use of antibiotics. Online access to
journal links may require subscription. Copies of articles may be obtained from your
local public or college library. The Acute Communicable Disease Control Program does
not provide copies of journal articles.
